Benefits of Mesotherapy

Since its inception in the 1950s, mesotherapy has been used in various areas of medicine and healthcare.

Today, one of its most popular applications is found in the fields of dermatology and skincare.

In cosmetic dermatology, mesotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a series of superfine injections of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids cocktails injected into the mesodermal or middle layer of the skin.

The infusion of specially chosen ingredients nourishes and rejuvenates the skin. Additionally, it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for the skin’s natural elasticity and youthful look.

According to SRS skincare products distributors, one of the leading brands specializing in transdermic cosmetic treatments, mesotherapy provides an instant and natural glow and anti-aging effects to your face, neck, and hands. It is safe, has minimal side effects, and takes less than half an hour to complete the procedure.

You can also see obvious results after the first session. Moreover, you will continue to notice significant improvements throughout the treatment duration and long after.

Best Mesotherapy Post-Care Tips to Remember

If you are getting cosmetic mesotherapy for the first time, follow these tips to experience the utmost benefits from this treatment:

  1. Follow all pre-treatment recommendations.

Heeding all your therapist’s advice before undergoing cosmetic mesotherapy will help speed up your recovery and minimize the potential side effects.

Below are some of the pre-treatment advice your therapist will likely give you that you will do well to follow:

  • Consult your doctor or cosmetic specialist if you can continue taking your current medications or if you should discontinue them temporarily.
  • Avoid taking aspirin or any anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen two days before the treatment.
  • Do not use chemical peel and AHA skincare products on or near the treatment site four weeks before the procedure.
  • Avoid using 1% Retin-A skincare products on or near the area to be treated two days before the procedure.
  • Avoid or keep alcohol consumption to a minimum of two days before your scheduled treatment.

Also, since the treated skin may become red or swollen after each session, you will be advised not to go out and make social plans hours after the procedure.

  1. Avoid getting your body wet.

After the procedure, do not take a shower or wash the treated area for the next 12 hours. Also, avoid using the hot tub or sauna for the next couple of days.

Additionally, avoid bathing or swimming in chlorinated or open water and the sea for the next three to five days.

However, it is recommended that you take a hot bath or shower after 48 hours to assist in your body’s healing.

  1. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun or extreme heat.

After undergoing the treatment, aside from avoiding baths, you have to stay away from direct sun exposure. Do so for at least the next 48 hours or until the swelling and bruising on the treated area subsides.

However, if you need to go out, apply sunblock with SPF 25 or greater at all times.

Also, avoid extensive heat for the next 48 hours after the treatment. This means not using a sunbed or a tanning bed and sunbathing.

  1. Apply a cold compress on swollen and red areas.

After undergoing cosmetic mesotherapy, you may experience mild burning sensations and notice swelling and redness on the treated area.

These side effects are normal and usually subside within 24 to 36 hours.

Using a cold compress on the treated and surrounding areas may help minimize the burning sensation, swelling, and redness. However, make sure you avoid applying ice directly onto the injection site.

Also, you will do well to apply the cold compress for 15 minutes every hour.

  1. Massage the treated area gently.

Since mesotherapy injects a cocktail of nutrients into the skin, you can ensure the even distribution of these substances into the mesodermal layer.

You can do this by massaging the treated area gently for 15 to 20 minutes daily for the next three to five days.

You may also be given a gel or cream that will help with the swelling and bruising by your therapist. You can use this whenever you massage the treated area.

However, if the therapist does not recommend massaging in your post-care to-do list, ask them first if you can massage the treated area before doing so.

  1. Avoid strenuous exercises and physical activities.

For the next 48 hours after the treatment, do not engage in any strenuous exercise.

A 30-minute walk is acceptable; however, you have to avoid activities that can raise your pulse rate or blood pressure. These include jogging, running, pushups, and weight-lifting.

This is because strenuous activities will cause you to sweat and excrete the injected solution out the pores of your skin. This, in turn, will reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

  1. Modify your diet.

What you eat and drink can also help you get the most benefits from getting cosmetic mesotherapy.

Drink plenty of fluids, particularly water, for the next few days. Try to drink at least 64 ounces of water on the day of the treatment and continue this water intake for up to one week.

Also, follow a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet for the next 72 hours. A recommended diet consists of at least three high-protein shakes and one low carbohydrate meal with vegetables such as a salad or steamed veggies and baked or broiled meat, fish, or chicken.

Additionally, consume more foods rich in fiber to bind toxins excreted in the GI tract.

You also won’t go wrong with eating foods with probiotics to help facilitate the better function of your digestive system.

Lastly, avoid alcohol to help your body support the hepatic handling of toxins.

After your mesotherapy procedure, do not take any medications not recommended by your therapist or specialist.

If you see signs of allergies or small lumps on the treated area, see your doctor or therapist so that they can prescribe the right anti-inflammatory or anti-allergy medicine, cream, or ointment.

By doing so, you can ensure you will be given a safe, effective treatment that will take care of the problem area instead of aggravating it.

After undergoing mesotherapy, make sure you follow all your therapist’s or doctor’s recommended aftercare tips and strategies. Doing so ensures you get the most benefits of this effective rejuvenating and tightening anti-aging and beautifying treatment.
