Winter is near! Although winters are something that many people look forward to, there are some possible downsides – getting a cold or a sore throat is never far away after continuous exposure to the cold. There seems no real or meaningful way to treat or cure the always irritating allergies because there is no accurate cause of having one. You can be easily irritated by pollens in spring, cold in winter, and dust in summer and the list goes on. Unfortunately, you start feeling utterly helpless before any real help reaches you. You might be familiar with the allergen aggravating dosha: Vata, Pitta, or Kapha. Therefore allergies are classified depending on which one is triggered in each individual case.   • Avoid the Allergen

You need to identify the allergen on the first place.Avoiding those elements can give your body an important rest from the overactive immune response. For example, if you are allergic to pollen it’s better to stay away from it. Also, avoid contact with furry animals like dogs and cats and try to dress in cotton clothing.

  • Prioritize Proper Food Combining

Digestive system and immune function are intricately linked. Digestive health can be improved with proper and balanced diet which in turn, can set the immune health in order.

  • Follow a Dosha-Pacifying Diet

This will vary from person to person. As discussed above dosha are most prominently at play in your trouble. Check out the types of symptoms and work accordingly. Kapha types of symptoms should follow a Kapha-pacifying diet. If Pitta is the player, follow a pitta-pacifying diet and in Vata types of allergies, you should follow a vata-pacifying diet.

  • Cleanse or Lubricate the Nostrils

Caring a little for the nostrils can help to mitigate the effect of allergens because nostrils work as the main host to the allergens to enter the body. The cleansing respiratory system supports clear breathing and a clear mind.  Nasya and Neti Pot are the main therapies introduced to oppose allergies. Nasya is a practice of applying an herbal oil or cow ghee to the nasal passage to nourish delicate tissues and promote clean breathing while providing a barrier against potentially disturbing allergens. Pregnant or Menstruating women are strictly advised not to perform this steps. Nasal Rinse or Neti Pot is is the process of  pouring warm salt water onto the nasal passages.   • Gargling

Throat allergy treatment in Ayurveda is simple to learn and follow. Gargling is recommended with a bit of honey in hot water or Turmeric powder or salt in hot water.

  • Herbs and formulas

Ayurveda is able to heal each individual by any means and this is inspirable. It offers many effective herbs and formulas to do the good. Sitopaladi, Talisadi, Trikatu, Ashwagandha, Bibhitaki,  Haritaki, Chyavanprash, Cumin, Coriander, and Fennel can be chosen according to the requirement.
