Breast Augmentation

This month, we are going to fill you in on breast augmentation: what it is, what the benefits are and if it makes sense for you. While it helps the ideal candidates with making their body look different, it may be something worth looking into, or it may be the case that another one of our procedures may suit you better. Learn more below!

What is Breast Augmentation? How does it differ from a Breast Lift?

Breast augmentation is best for those who are considering making the switch to fuller breasts. Maybe you were not blessed with a large chest and want a larger one to feel more confident. It gives you the full breasts you have always wanted. In contrast, a breast lift is for those who want an elevated chest that looks pleasing to the eye. This is generally something to keep in mind if your chest has sagged with age. While these are similar procedures, they differ in that they are targeted at different types of women. Whether you should look into one procedure or the other, or something else entirely, depends on what type of person you are and your desired outcomes.

What are the Benefits?

If you are wondering what the benefits are of breast augmentation versus a breast lift, review the highlights here.

Benefits of Breast Augmentation

  • Have fuller, more ample breasts
  • Have a better shape so that your chest is more proportional to your body type, whether that is through implants or a fat transfer
  • Gain confidence
  • Achieve a desirable, sensual look

Benefits of a Breast Lift

  • Help your breasts look perkier after they have sagged due to multiple factors, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging or weight changes
  • Feel more insecure and happy
  • The breast contour could make you look more youthful perkier in the chest area

Is it Right for me?

Undergoing any procedure, including breast augmentation surgery or a breast lift procedure, is a big deal, so consider if either is the right choice for you. It should be noted that breast augmentation is a highly desirable procedure for women of varying ages to increase small breasts or make breasts look better after a like event changed their chest’s appearance. For a fat transfer or saline implants, candidates must be 18, and for silicone implants, 21 is the minimum age. If you are in good physical health, do not smoke and have breasts that are fully developed, you may be a good candidate.

Breast augmentation with implants leaves the most noticeable result for chests that are naturally smaller, and implants are available in multiple sizes and colors so you can choose the right ones for you. For a subtle option, consider fat transfer. Results will be noticeable immediately post-surgery, but are not permanent. Results are expected to last for 10-15 years.

Breast lifts are ideal for those who are in good health, do not smoke and have realistic expectations regarding results. Most commonly, those who opt for one have shapeless breasts, flat breasts, stretched skin or uneven breasts. Please note that a breast lift cannot change breast size alone; however, a breast lift is commonly combined with a breast augmentation or a breast reduction for maximum results. Results can be seen immediately, but life changes, such as weight gain and pregnancy, as well as aging, can alter results. It is recommended that candidates maintain their weight.
