Once you have established that it is okay to come closer to wounded people, then you can proceed. When you approach the person that requires aid, you should introduce yourself to him or her, and begin asking questions to keep their attention span high.
If you see blood, then it is really important to talk with wounded people and keep their blood pressure on, by asking them questions such as what is their name, where they are from, what is their profession, etc. And then, you can try to detect the source of the injury. If you know how to handle the injury, then you should help.
If you think that you are not good enough to help that person or to treat the injury, then, by all means, do not touch that person. If you do something wrong, you can create much more damage. Of course, prior to all this, someone should call the ER. While being passive when someone is hurt may not be your first instinct, you should remember that you should not do anything, such as try to fix the broken bone on the spot, or similar, if you are not trained to do it.
During this training, you will go through several potential scenarios, however, you will also go through several severe scenarios where we mimic really tragic car accidents. You will learn how to stop bleeding nose, how to help people who have asthma attacks, and how to treat people who have open would and bleeding out. Besides these things, you will also learn how to properly give CPR. You should always have a first aid kit in your car.
