Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has long been heralded as a miracle cure for a range of ailments. In fact, you could say that it has been overhyped in a lot of ways. There are some people that think it is going to cute them of just about everything and others that think it is useless.

The truth is somewhere in between of course. Coconut oil has a lot of features that give it a lot of potential for home remedies so you can take care of your conditions yourself.

From your hair to your skin, coconut oil will give you some relief from whatever your issues are. In this article, we will go over what it can do so you can see how to care for yourself at home.

Canker sores

A lot of people tolerate canker sores when they don’t have to. Of course, there are always the old-timers that tell you to rinse your mouth out with saltwater. But, the truth is that never really works.

What does seem to work is a dose of coconut oil. It is antimicrobial and disinfects so it can keep bacteria from growing in your open sore to stop an infection. It also has antiinflammation properties that will calm the area around the sore so it will not feel so uncomfortable.

Lastly, the fatty acids will work on the sore to help it to go away faster. All you have to do is take a cotton swab and wet it in some coconut oil. Then, rub it on the canker sore several times per day. Since it can be eaten there is no problem with it being in your mouth.

Beard and hair care

Coconut oil really comes through big when it comes to caring for your hair. It has so many properties that benefit the hair that it can do just about anything. In fact, it has even shown some promise in spurring faster growth in your hair. If you want a long, full beard then putting some coconut oil on your skin should speed up the process.

It is very light from a molecular standpoint so it is absorbed quickly by the hair making it an ideal moisturizer and softener. Once again, beards benefit from this as they can be rough and wiry but after using coconut oil it is soft and smooth.

When you have dull-looking hair, then the coconut oil will add a brilliant sheen without it looking greasy.

Dandruff

Coconut oil is so good as a moisturizer that it becomes an ideal treatment for dandruff. If you have a dry scalp that ends up flaking then the skin will stay moist enough to prevent that thanks to the lauric acid in the oil.

If your dandruff is caused by bacteria or fungus then coconut oil will help for that too. It is an antifungal in addition to being antimicrobial. And the discomfort from severe dandruff and dry skin will calm down due to the anti-inflammatory property of the oil.
